While we are talking about e-transportations, electric cars with the world-famous Tesla or other influential e-car brands come to our minds first and electric bikes are most frequently ignored. Without a doubt, it has been more than 100 years since the world's first car came out, and the car is more deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, and the electric car is only a variant of the oil car in recent years.
However, what if I say it's just a stereotype? Seriously, it's actually not that we're alarmists. Research conducted by Deloitte, which is one of the biggest accounting companies in the world, found that electric bikes for adults are leading the revolution in electric transportation. There is a total number of 1008 respondents who participated in this study and they were asked if they use e-transportation whether electric bikes or electric cars in their daily life and if yes, which type of e-transportation. To everyone’s surprise, the most answered are electric bikes which correspond to 18% of this sample followed by electric cars and electric scooters with 7% each. This statistic surprised most people, so after further questioning, they got an interesting answer: electric bikes have a unique shape with 2 electric wheels that other e-transportations do not have, and are more attractive. Furthermore, the interviewees were also asked to rank the 4 e-transportations (e-bike, e-car, e-moped, and e-scooter), and the result had not changed, the electric bike was still the most attractive means of transportation.
At the same time, participants gave 4 main reasons why they conceded that electric bikes are more attractive than e-cars and other kinds of e-transportations:
More Practical (62%)
In fact, most ebikes for sale make commuting much speedier than driving cars, especially in crowded urban areas. In short, electric bikes take up less space on the road, which means the existing road infrastructure can accommodate more ebike enthusiasts, and less car traffic means faster commutes. And, a great electric commuter bike usually has smoother, fatter tires to diminish drag and use the motor and battery more efficiently. It has a hard frame, usually with a metal rear rack, for carrying your stuff, but it wouldn’t be too heavy to move in traffic.
More Cost-Efficient
This is mainly reflected in the difference between gas and electricity costs. For some geopolitical reasons, gasoline prices have risen by 67% in the year to July 2022. A tank of gas costs approximately as much as a year's worth of electricity for an electric bike. On the other hand, as we mentioned before, electric bikes take much less space to store than cars/e-cars and they are parking-free in most cases. The average parking cost in the American cities per month is more than $300 but with ebikes? Close to $0.
Replacement of Other Transportation Ways (46%)
It is undeniable that electric bikes are not for long-distance traveling and are most recommended to travel less than 50 miles in one single way. However, with ebike’s appropriate range, it can still be the replacement of many traveling ways. Commuters generally take subways or buses to work within a distance between 1 - 20 miles which could be replaced perfectly by electric bikes. And, no more noise or smell bothers you.
More Sustainable (41%)
From the perspective of environmental protection, cars consume gasoline, and the total amount of gasoline on the planet will one day run out and gasoline will produce large quantities of carbon dioxide which destroys our planet. Electricity is one kind of renewable energy which causes literally no harm to the environment.
The electric bike itself, unlike cars, they do not have so many components, and the main functions are realized by motor and battery which equals could be easily repaired with lower costs than cars.
More Joyful (37%)

And for many city dwellers, the day couldn't come sooner, everyone is in a hurry, taking rush hour to work, school, or other things, and they forget to appreciate the beautiful things around them.

As we said before, e-cars are a novel concept just like e-bikes. Cars, including e-cars, still occupy the leading position in public transportation. With current technology, electric bikes certainly cannot replace cars.
